Maternity Belt – Vital Pregnancy Necessity
Back pain is one of the most common problems pregnant women suffer from. While it is a part of pregnancy, that doesn’t mean you just have to suffer. There are products out there designed especially for pregnant women to give you the back support you need.
So why exactly do pregnant women suffer from back pain? Well, your ligaments and bones are softening. Your center of gravity has changed. You have extra weight on your spine. These are things that will happen that you have no control over. Not to mention a lot of women may have weaker than ideal abdominal muscles, poor posture, and poor lifting habits (especially with other children they may have).
So, with all this going on it is no surprise that back can actually become an extremely uncomfortable part of pregnancy.
So, how can you deal with it? First of all, it is important to maintain good posture and to lift appropriately (squat – don’t bend!). Additionally, there are some exercises you can do to increase your muscle strength.
There are many types of maternity support options available. There are maternity girdles that gently lift your belly to try to relieve some of the pressure on your lower back. There are also post delivery girdle belts that will wrap around your belly. This helps flatten the tummy and alleviate lower back pain. Spanx maternity underwear is a good example of how you can get the support you need from your undergarmets. Postpartum belts are very popular and should not be forgotten during your pregnancy planning.
A maternity support belt will wrap around under the belly to help lift and alleviate pressure. This is similar to a back support belt you may see people wear who do a lot of lifting in bending at their jobs. However, maternity support typically is more comfortable and flexible (to adjust to your growing belly) and is usually worn under your clothes.
Maternity belts are sometimes prescribed by doctors for the abdominal support expectant mothers need. Some insurance companies will pay for maternity belts as they can be considered a durable medical good.
Another type of pregnancy support belt is the support band. It is typically a softer material and provides medium amount of support (in between a support panty and a support belt).
Of course, you do not just have to wear a belt to help yourself be comfortable and relieve lower back pressure. Many expectant mothers find the comfort and relief they are looking for with a Maternity Pillow
The point of this article is to get you to research your options! You do not have to just idly suffer from maternity back pain!
