Pregnancy is a very exciting time for a lot of people.  Especially for first time mothers, it can be challenging and a little scary because it is all so new.  It is important to take care of yourself, which in turn helps your baby.

Make sure that you are happy and comfortable as much as possible.  Stress and negative emotions can take a physical toll on your body and you do not want your baby to feel any of those effects.

One way to help maintain a positive attitude is to try and do things for yourself like you did before you were pregnant.  Keep up your appearance so that you are happy and comfortable with how you look.  Try to keep the same sense of style you had before so that you are still feeling like yourself and feeling good about yourself.

As you can see with all the pregnant celebrities out there, it is actually easy to maintain fashion and fitness while being pregnant. 

Also, a good way to maintain a healthy and positive attitude is to surround yourself in a community that supports.  One website actually made a list of the best cities in America to have a baby based on community, hospitals, doctors etc.

Austin Texas scored really well on safety.  There are laws in place that help protect children and babies.  Portland Oregon was actually scored at the top of the list.  One of the best reasons why they scored so high is because their maternal mortality rate is significantly lower than average.

If you would like to rate your own city, you can do your own research on the issues they looked into.  These issues include affordability (such as tax laws and hospital costs).  Safety is another issue considered, especially having to do with day cares, infant and maternal mortality rates, and crime.

Birthing options is something else to consider when evaluating a city.  It would be nice to know if you had the option of home birth, midwives, Douala’s etc and some cities have more than others.  Fertility laws and treatments were another evaluated factor. 

The fact is, do what you can to stay happy and comfortable while pregnant.  Throw on that maternity t shirt and go get em!  Then, after the baby comes you can worry about other ways to stay comfortable with “unmaternity issues” – one example is the new rage of women who use a menstrual cup.  Of course, you have about 9 months before you have to worry about that again!
